The Modular Extendable Rigid Wall Shelter
(MERWS) is a modular shelter assembled from 40 individual
paper honeycomb and aluminum skin panels. The shelter
serves as an expansion kit for the Army Standard Expandable
ISO shelter. The MERWS provides a large (1150 square
foot) open workspace for command post, hospital, maintenance
or other applications, when attached to 2 sided expandable
ISO.
The shelter can be unpacked from the 20 foot ISO in
which it is stored and transported and erected by four
soldiers in less than four hours. The shelter includes
lights, a circuit breaker panel, single personnel door,
an ECU interface and leveling jacks. Individual panels
can be removed and replaced with custom designed panels
for specific applications.
